For Parents

Not every client I see is a parent, but those who are remind me regularly that being a parent is one of the most rewarding and most challenging experiences in life. Raising a child is an awesome responsibility, and caring for your child becomes your life priority.  Often, the needs of your child are put before your own.

It is important to remember that taking care of yourself, is taking care of your child.

As a psychotherapist I witness the joys and the struggles of parenting every day.  I have seen consistently that raising even the most typical and healthy child will elicit stress, anxiety, frustration, confusion and exhaustion (to name a few) in every individual and in every parenting unit.

In my years of experience I have offered support to parents of children diagnosed with Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, executive functioning and learning disabilities, those coping with chronic health issues, post-adoption related issues, addiction, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and more.

In my practice, I offer a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals and couples to gain support and openly explore and express the entire array of feelings that being a parent will create. My aim is to not only normalize even your most negative thoughts and feelings, but to provide empathy, understanding, parenting strategies, and a plan for finding and caring for yourself in the parenting process. Sometimes an hour a week to put all parenting concerns aside, and just focus on you, is the most important goal.
